A first post.

First post in blog. Introduce self/concept.

I'm Nick. Will post things I think are interesting/cool/fun/other adjectives.

Anywho, on to the interesting stuff.

I'm not sure if you're familiar with Graham Roumieu. You're probably not. You may better know him as the guy who wrote the Bigfoot books. Still no?

It started with In Me Own Words: The Autobiography of Bigfoot and then went on to include Me Write Book: It Bigfoot Memoir and Bigfoot: I Not Dead. All penned by the surprisingly freaky, deep, and bloody-minded character of Bigfoot.

'Nuff said. To pick up one of these books you'll have to look in the "left-field" bookstores. I've had success in Planet Books in Mt Lawley, and Oxford Street Books in Leederville. If you're too scabby to buy books, you can find little gems of wisdom on Bigfoot's Twitter Page. Graham Roumieu also does some cool art, so check out his website.

If you're into art, you'll want to head to the Art Gallery of WA in Northbridge. In addition to Year 12 Perspectives and a whole other bunch of interesting stuff, it's showing a really interesting collection of sculptures by Australian artist Patricia Piccinini. The exhibition, titled "Relativity", is a freaky look into a possible future riddled with the consequences of biotechnology.

Some of these sculptures are so lifelike that I got within inches of them and was still terrified that they were going to spring to life and scare the shite out of me. Otherwise, it's a really interesting, albeit unsettling, exhibition. I particularly liked The Stags and Doubting Thomas.

Definitely worth a visit. Don't go if you're spooked by mutants, aliens, freakishly explicit animal genitalia, or little kids poking their fingers into unidentifiable orifices.
